Matthew 8 ~ 9 34And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus, and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their region. 1And getting into a boat he crossed over and came to his own city.

BIBLE STUDY – KJV continued

Get last week’s Newsletter or your Bible and look at our first Scripture, Galatians 4:21-30. I want to try and elaborate upon it just a little.

Some wanted to be under the Law (v.21) and Paul asks, “Do you not listen to the Law?” He then presents an Allegory in which the Bondwoman is Hagar and she represents Mt. Sinai which is equal to Moses Law, the Old Testament. The Freewoman is Sarah who represents the Heavenly Jerusalem (The New Testament).

The Son of the Bondwoman is Ishmael who represents the Jews and the Son of Freewoman is Isaac who represents the Christians.

Paul then asks the question, “Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.” (v.30)

What does this mean? The Jews are no longer God's children! The Old Testament is no longer God's Law for man!

While the Old Testament is not our law for today, we can learn from it! Today God speaks to us through His Son.  We must do everything He tells us to do; we must have authority from Him for all we do.

We closed last week’s Newsletter with a chart on the Revelation of the Word of God. We resume with …

9} John 10:1,10 1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

10} John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus is the True, Living Way!

11} Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Iniquity is lawlessness, the condition of one without law whether ignorant of it or deliberately violating it.

12} Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (See the illustration at the top of the back side of this issue.)

13} Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

We now come to a central point in our study.

Here is a Scripture we want to be sure to acknowledge and understand!

14} John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

What is His Will for Us Today? What are His Commandments for Me?

Understanding that the New Testament is the Revealed Will of the Lord for us today (2 Tim.3:16-17, etc), and acknowledging that it is inspired of God (1 Cor.2:6-13) We Should Be Willing To Obey Him!

Now, let’s take some steps that lead to the remission of sins and the promise of eternal life …

15} (Step #1) John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

16} John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins..

17} (Step #2) Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

18} (Step #3) Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Before we take the next step, answer the questions in the box …

Text Box: Have you been baptized? Yes____No____
If yes, for what reason was you baptized?

19} (Step #4) Matthew 28:18-19 And Jesus came and spake unto them,  saying,  All power is given unto me in  heaven  and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20} Mark 16:15-16 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

21} Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

22} Acts 8:35-39 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. 39And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

The Eunich had Jesus preached to him. How did he know he was to be baptized? One cannot preach Jesus without preaching baptism! Yet, how many preachers do you know who include baptism in their sermons?
